It seams the spawn on the Red River in Shreveport/Bossier, arrives earlier and earlier each year. The fish are committed NOW. Even with temps dropping into the high 30's at night, the fish have pulled up shallow and are there to stay through the spawn. Tournaments held the last 2 weekends have produced 20-24 pound sacks. These fish were caught "Punching" shallow mats near wood. Productive "Punching" baits are soft plastic crawfish imitators or tubes behind 1- 1 1/2 tungsten weights. Best color on the Red River has always been black/blue with black/red flake coming in a close second.
